Crashola #2: Big Bidness
2009 January 26
- A Lehman Brothers executive decided to sell his mansion to his wife for $10 to get it out of his name; the feds are coming after him for fraud (along with other creditors and investors in the firm) and he needed to unload it fast.
- The woes of the Little Guy in Wilmington, Ohio, a one-business town abandoned by a big employer. A rival company bought the business and then closed it in favor of its own operations.
- More slashes: 30k out at Caterpillar (nobody’s building), 7k at Home Depot (ditto), 8k at Sprint and 7k at Philips.
