The Accidental Time Machine: ***

22 August, 2007 (13:29) | books, science_fiction | By: jrittenhouse

Joe Haldeman’s latest; it’s a quick and easy read, and has a lot of familiar plot lines.  Mix in Wells’s TIME MACHINE with lots of modern stuff, including pieces of SEARCH THE SKY by Pohl and Kornbluth.  A very scruffy grad student semi-anti-hero.  (From Dayton, Ohio, no less!)  A black box time machine.  Ebay gone mad in the future.  And so on.

It’s a lot of fun and a good romp; highly recommended as a quick, fun, easy read for anyone.   Helps if you’ve ever been in or around MIT; it certainly helped me to understand where things were from my trips to Cambridge, MA.

I can’t say this is ‘alternate history’ as such, no.
